Where do the children go?
I decided to create a campaign focusing on abortion. To do so I created a range of images with children playing in a cemetry thus came the concept "where do the children go?" referring to those who are aborted. I then after doing research found a website dedicated to pro-life and helping mothers choose not to abort. It was from this website that I found statistics to add to my campaign using the style of campaigns that I had previously come across.
I wanted to create a ghostly effect showing that the idea of the image is that the chidlren are dead and not real or alive. That maybe they are even a figure of the imagination, ghosts that haunt those who choose to abort and regret their decision.

I was able to create this effect using the rubber tool where I selected an area then selected the rubber tool and it allowed me to remove a "layer" of the image it was this "layer" that became the ghostly effect that you see present in the childrens figures.
The dark areas is the area where the part of the image was originally selected rubbed out and removed from. I essentially removed the rubbed out area leaving the rest of the image.

Where do the children go was set in a cemetery the concept behind the image was that when a child is aborted
there is a sort of afterlife for them. I decided that this afterlife would be portrayed by the ghosts of these aborted children playing around in a cemetery. I wanted to show a sense that even though a baby is aborted they grow to be
children and then adults. To show these concepts I used faded images of children which would initially give the impression of a dead child adding a banner to my images made it very specific in giving the message that the focus is not on children that have passed away but babies who have been terminated. Each photo shows children doing nothing other than being children, the images are very natural and do not seem staged which is exactly what I was going for.
My favourite of the three final images is the one with the little boy just sitting and looking because I felt it was a very hard-hitting image each image works as a whole, there are no real focuses or use of composition techniques to draw the viewer’s eyes to any specific point in the photographs. I wanted my viewer to see and respond to the image in their own individual was, some may read the text first others may focus on the setting of a cemetery and others may focus on the models in the photograph.
I used different editing levels of contrast and colour for each photograph focusing on creating an image I felt looked good rather than a consistent style of editing to go across all three images. One image is very soft and has a great source of sun lighting which adds a surreal heavenly feel to the image where the more hard-hitting image had a harshly contrasted edit with more natural looking lighting however with the model and most of the image being in a shadow.
The colours in these images were my favourite from many of the photo-shoots taken as they were very natural; the visual texture that these ordinary elements create really helps to add to the photograph for example the sun glare.
This was my favourite campaign to create because abortion is something that I am very against and so I felt joy in creating an ad campaigning against the medical procedure. I decided that these images had great value as it was campaigning against something that is very controversial. Everyone feels that many things are wrong and should not
happen however with issues like abortion there are people who agree with it.
